3. What day is garbage picked up at my address?
The Town of Innisfail has a contract with Canadian Waste for garbage pick up. The Town Office has maps showing what area of town is picked up on each day.
4. My garbage was not picked up on the regular day. Who do I call?
If your garbage was out during this time but was not picked up, please contact the Town Office at 227-3376.
5. Do I need a license for my dog and/or cat?
A dog license in the Town of Innisfail is $12.00
per year for first time purchases. The fee is $12.00 for spayed
/ neutered dogs and $25.00 for non-spayed / non-neutered dogs
during the months of December, January and February for the
forthcoming year. All other months of the licensing year the
fee will be $20.00 for spayed / neutered and $40.00 for non-spayed
/ non-neutered. Owners will be fined $50 for dogs caught not
wearing a current dog tag.
6. How often are utility bills mailed out and what is the rate?
Utility bills are mailed out every month. The rate for water
is $1.25/m3, Sewer is 80% of the water, and garbage is $15.00
per month.
7. My sewer is backed up. What do I do?
You may call the Town Office at 227-3376 if you suspect the problem is out in the sewer main in the street. Utilities staff will check the sewer main to ensure it is not blocked. It will then be your responsibility to call a plumber.
8. Where do I call to get my water turned on when I move into a new house?
Call the Utilities Clerk at the Town Office at 227-3376.
9. Does the Town of Innisfail have a recycling program?
There are recycling bins at the Waste Transfer Station, Arena
and Pool parking lots. There is also E-waste bins for televisions
and computer equipment at the Waste Transfer Station. Albertans
Recycle run a Blue Box program in Innisfail as well. To set
up with Albertans Recycle call 350-7394.
10. What hours are the Waste Transfer Station open?
The waste transfer site is open Wednesday and Saturday from
9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00
pm and Sundays from 12:00 to 4:00 pm.

11. Where do I take my tree branches?
Tree branches may be taken to the waste transfer site during regular hours.
12. Do we have a spring clean-up week?
Spring clean week is held in April. This includes a Hazardous Waste Roundup. Watch the local paper or the Town’s website for dates.
13. Where is the source of Innisfail water?
The source of Innisfail tap water is the Red Deer River. Water is treated at the Regional Water Treatment Plant before being pumped to Innisfail, Bowden, Olds, Didsbury, Carstairs and Crossfield.
14. Do we have water rationing?
The Town of Innisfail is on a Level 1 odd and even water restriction. This means that buildings / residences with EVEN addresses may water on even numbered days and buidlings / residences with ODD addresses may water on odd numbered days.
15. Can I pay my utilities and taxes through my bank?
Utilities and taxes can be paid through internet banking, ATM machines, or during office hours at any of the local bank branches.
When are my taxes due?
Your taxes are due on the last business day in June. For your convenience, you can pay your taxes earlier by providing The Town of Innisfail with a post-dated cheque or by joining The Town’s Pre-authorized Payment Plan.

When is my tax bill mailed to me?
Tax bills are generally mailed early May. If you haven't received your tax bill by the end of May, please contact the Town Office at (403) 227-3376. What tax year is my bill for?
Property taxes in Alberta are based on the calendar year (January-December). When you make your payment at the end of June, you're paying your taxes for the previous six months and the next six months.
Why am I required to pay my taxes in the middle of the calendar year?
The Town of Innisfail and all Alberta municipalities could bill for taxes in January, the first month of the calendar year. Innisfail, however, chooses to bill in the middle of the year as it considers mid-year payment to be an acceptable compromise for both the citizens and the Town.
If my tax payment is late, will I be charged a penalty?
All current taxes not paid by the due date (June 30th) are subject to an 8% penalty. An additional 4% penalty will be added to all current taxes not paid within 60 days of the due date. All taxes remaining outstanding on January 1st will be charged a further 12%.
